Missing meta description
The meta description is the snippet text search engines show under your title in results. Without one, Google pulls a fragment of on-page text instead — often an awkward, out-of-context sentence that doesn't sell the click.
Why it matters
Meta description isn't a direct ranking factor, but it's your ad copy in organic search. A weak auto-generated snippet lowers click-through rate even for a page that ranks well, which over time can itself become a negative signal.
How to fix it
- Write a unique meta description for every indexable page — summarize the page and include a reason to click.
- Never leave it blank and never duplicate the same description across pages.
- Write for humans first; don't keyword-stuff — Google rewrites descriptions it judges unhelpful anyway.
