Sitemap.xml unreachable

If sitemap.xml itself returns an error, times out, or doesn't parse as valid XML, search engines can't read any of the URLs you're trying to submit — the entire sitemap fails at once, not just individual entries.

Why it matters

This is a total discovery failure for every URL that depends on the sitemap for indexing priority, not a partial degradation — worth treating as urgent.

How to fix it

Confirm sitemap.xml returns HTTP 200 and valid XML by fetching it directly.
Check robots.txt isn't accidentally blocking the sitemap URL itself.
Re-submit the sitemap in Google Search Console once it's reachable again, and watch for the error to clear.
