Thin content
Thin content is a page with too little substantive text to be genuinely useful — often a stub page, a near-empty category page, or a page that exists mainly for navigation rather than to answer a query.
Why it matters
Search engines aim to rank pages that thoroughly answer a query. A page with very little content rarely provides enough depth to compete, and a site with many thin pages can drag down how search engines evaluate the site as a whole.
How to fix it
- Expand the page with genuinely useful content — not padding, but real detail a visitor would value.
- If the page doesn't warrant more content, consider merging it into a more complete page instead.
- For pages that are supposed to be thin by design (e.g. a simple contact page), keep them out of the sitemap/index rather than trying to pad them artificially.
