Title tag too short or too long
Search engines truncate title tags that run too long (usually somewhere past 60 characters, though it's pixel-width based, not a hard count), showing "…" instead of your full message. Titles that are too short waste an opportunity — there's room for more descriptive, keyword- relevant text that could improve both rankings and click-through.
Why it matters
A truncated title can cut off your call-to-action, your brand name, or the exact phrase that would have made someone click. A too-short title looks thin and under-optimized next to competitors who use the full space.
How to fix it
- Aim for roughly 50–60 characters — long enough to be descriptive, short enough to avoid truncation.
- Front-load the most important words in case of truncation on narrow screens.
- Rewrite rather than pad — don't stuff keywords just to hit a length target.
